In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Dynabook Americas, Inc. (“Dynabook”) is voluntarily recalling certain AC Adapters sold with Toshiba brand personal laptop computers (and as separate accessories), manufactured from April 2008 through December 2012 (sold between April 2008 and April 2014). The AC Adapters can overheat or spark, posing a potential fire hazard. The AC Adapters are black in color and have the model numbers and serial number date code ranges below.

If you own a potentially impacted AC Adapter that might be subject to this voluntary recall, please stop using the AC Adapter immediately and check the AC Adapter’s model number and serial number on the worldwide recall website: (go to worldwide recall website) to determine if your AC Adapter is part of the recall. If part of the recall, you will be directed to an order webpage where you will enter your contact information, be instructed to submit a photograph of your AC Adapter, and certify that you will properly dispose of the recalled AC Adapter. You will then be provided with a free replacement AC Adapter.

A: No, if your AC Adapter is part of the recall, you will receive instructions on the AC Adapter order webpage to enter your contact information, submit a photograph of your AC Adapter, and certify that you will properly dispose of the recalled AC Adapter before being provided with the free replacement AC Adapter.
Q6. What will I do with the power cable that connects into the wall with the recalled AC Adapter?
A: In most cases, Dynabook will only be replacing the affected AC Adapter, so you should keep your power cable for continued use. In certain cases, Dynabook will be providing a new power cord due to the replacement adapter being a 3-prong AC power cord, where the original was a 2-prong AC power cord. In those cases, the appropriate power cord will be provided with the AC Adapter.
Q7. How do I connect/disconnect my power cord from the AC Adapter
A: As seen in the illustration below, the female end of the power cord connects/disconnects directly to the corresponding prongs on the side of the AC Adapter.
Q8. If my AC Adapter is recalled, how long will I have to wait for a replacement?
A: Delivery times may vary, but typically orders will be processed and shipped within 7-14 business days.
Q9. If my AC Adapter is recalled, may I continue using my laptop while I’m waiting for my replacement AC Adapter?
A: No, Dynabook recommends that you immediately turn off your laptop and wait until you receive a replacement AC Adapter.
Q10. Is it safe to use a Toshiba laptop AC Adapter on a plane?
A: If your AC Adapter is affected by the recall, whether you are on an airplane or not, Dynabook recommends that you immediately turn off your laptop and wait until you receive a replacement AC Adapter.
Q11. Does the replacement AC Adapter have a warranty?
A: The replacement AC Adapter includes a 90-day limited warranty.
Q12. My computer is not affected by the recall program -- why did I get the notification?
A: Your laptop model is on a master list of Toshiba worldwide models that potentially could have had an affected AC Adapter. Not all AC Adapters used on all models are affected. If the AC Adapter lookup process has indicated that your AC Adapter is not affected, you do not need to take any further action.
