Issue

With Windows XP Home Edition, an attempt to change the 'How Users Log On and Off' settings (in Windows Control Panel, under Users) may fail, with the following error message:

"A recently installed program has disabled the Welcome screen and Fast User Switching. To restore these features, you must uninstall the programs. The following file name might help identify the program that made the change: C:\windows\system32\ATHGINA.dll".

This error is caused by installing the Single Sign On Feature Set during the setup of the Atheros Client Utility

Resolution

Uninstall the Atheros Client Utility and then reinstall the Atheros Client Utility without the Single Sign On Feature Set. If you install the Single Sign On Feature Set, you will not be able to change the How Users Log On and Off settings.

Procedure

1. Click Start, then Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs.

2. Highlight the Atheros Client Utility and click Add/remove.

3. Select Yes when prompted to remove the program and all its components.

4. Select Yes, I want to restart my computer now and click on Finish to restart the computer.

5. Reinstall the Atheros Client Utility and during the install process select "Do not install the Single Sign On Set".
