- Issue
The following error message may appear as the computer attempts to boot (start the operating system).
PXE-E61: Media text failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel . . .
This problem occurs on models which have "LAN" listed as a boot option, when "LAN" is in the boot order prior to another bootable device (and if a network connection to a boot server cannot be found).- Resolution
Change the Boot Priority to FDD > CD-ROM > HDD > LAN (Default), or to boot from the LAN, leave LAN as the highest boot priority, but verify that the network connection is good, and that a LAN boot server is available.
Boot Priority options include:
- FDD > HDD > CD-ROM > LAN
- HDD > FDD > CD-ROM > LAN
- FDD > CD-ROM > LAN > HDD
- HDD > CD-ROM > LAN > FDD
- CD-ROM > LAN > FDD > HDD
- CD-ROM > LAN > HDD > FDD
Please see Support Bulletin 98081013 for an explanation of how to access the computer's BIOS Setup.
