A: For pricing, see www.vistaupgrade.toshiba.com

Q: Where can I find the Certificate of Authenticity (COA) number for Windows XP?

COA-label-04.jpg

Q: Why do I need to provide the Windows XP COA number when redeeming my upgrade?

A:  The Express Upgrade Promotion allows only one upgrade per computer. The COA helps validate that the software is genuine Microsoft software, and it confirms the version of Windows.

Q: Who should I contact if my COA number is rejected as invalid?

A: Call the fulfillment center at 800-817-5602 (toll-free). If the reason for rejection is that the product or COA is not genuine, the fulfillment center will escalate this issue to Microsoft for further instructions.

Q: What should I do if I do not receive a confirmation for my purchase, but my credit card has been charged?

A: Call the fulfillment center at 800-817-5602 (toll-free). Have your credit card information and any other type of order information readily available.

Q: What should I do before installation of the Windows Vista Upgrade?

A: Before installing the Windows Vista Upgrade, Toshiba recommends doing the following:

  • Backup all documents and data files to CDs, DVDs, or another storage device. Failure to do so may result in loss of personal data.

  • Print Toshiba's Upgrade Express instructions:  Installing Windows Vista from the Windows Vista Express Upgrade DVD

  • Locate the installation discs for important applications, in case you need to re-install them after the upgrade to Windows Vista.

  • Create a set of Microsoft Windows XP recovery disks, following the instructions that came with the computer.

  • Check with the manufacturers of existing peripherals and software to verify that they are compatible with Windows Vista.

  • Run Microsoft's Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor to review an evaluation of which features of Windows Vista will work on your computer:  www.windowsvista.com/upgradeadvisor.

Q: Will Windows Vista Ultimate be available through the Windows Vista Express Upgrade Promotion?

A: No. Only the following Windows Vista editions are available through the Windows Vista Express Upgrade Promotion:

  • Windows Vista Home Basic
  • Windows Vista Home Premium
  • Windows Vista Business

Q: If my Toshiba computer does not have a Windows Vista Capable sticker, does Toshiba offer drivers and BIOS upgrades for Windows Vista?

A: No. Toshiba offers Windows Vista drivers and Windows Vista-compatible BIOS upgrades for computer models that have a valid Windows Vista Capable sticker. It may be possible to upgrade to Windows Vista on some Toshiba computer models that do not have a Windows Vista Capable sticker, but Toshiba cannot guarantee that all features of the computer will function correctly after the upgrade. Microsoft’s Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor may be able to indicate whether or not your computer has the minimum hardware requirements for Windows Vista, but a positive report from the Upgrade Advisor is not a clear indication that the specific features of the computer will function correctly after an upgrade to Windows Vista.

Q: Should my computer be connected to the Internet during the Windows Vista Express Upgrade?

A: Yes, your computer must be connected to the Internet during the Windows Vista Express process, for access to important driver and BIOS updates.
