New versions of the Intel PROSet Utility and Wi-Fi driver offer stronger connections and improved connection stability, including fewer dropped connectionsBasic steps
1. Update the Intel PROSet Utility to version 9.0.4.0.
2. Update the Intel 802.11a/g Mini-PCI Wi-Fi driver to verson 9.0.4.8.
These two software components must be installed in the order described here: the PROSet utility first, and then the driver.
1. Intel PROSet Utility installation
1. Click the following link to download the file intel_proset_V9.0.4.0.exe. Follow your web browser's instructions to save the file to the Windows Desktop.
2. Double-click the intel_proset_V9.0.4.0.exe file on the Windows Desktop to start the installation.
3. Click the Unzip button. After a message indicating that files have 'unzipped' successfully, click OK.
4. The Intel PROSet Wireless Installer will appear. Click the Install Software button.5. Leave the Modify option checked. Click Next.
6. Select Intel PROSet/Wireless. Click the Modify button.
7. Click OK at the "Component modification complete" message.
8. Restart the computer to complete the installation (the installer does not suggest restarting).2. Intel Wi-Fi driver installation
1. Click the following link to download the file intel_802.11_9048driver.exe. Follow your web browser's instructions to save the file to the Windows Desktop.
2. Double-click the intel_802.11_9048driver.exe file on the Windows Desktop to start the installation.
3. Click the Unzip button. After a message indicating that files have 'unzipped' successfully, click OK.
4. The following message will appear: "Now Performing Intel ® PRO/Wireless network driver installer operations. Please Wait..."5. Once this message disappears, restart the computer to complete the installation (the installer does not suggest restarting).
