- These are instructions for the Iomega Zip 250 USB Installations for Windows 95, 98, 98SE & Windows NT 4.0.
- Procedure
Installation - Windows 95 w/Iomega USB 1. Insert lomegaware v2.1 CD and it will AutoPlay. 2. Install Shield window opens and then the Windows Installer Window. 3. Iomega Software Setup "Welcome to the Iomega Software Setup Wizard." Click "Next." 4. License Agreement screen - Select "I accept the terms" and click on "Next." 5. Select "Complete" and click on "Next." 6. Ready to Install the program, click on "Install." 7. Iomega Software Setup screen - "Are you installing Iomega Software to support an Iomega USB drive? Click on "Yes." 8. Iomega Software Setup screen - "IMPORTANT" Windows 95 does NOT fully support the Universal Serial bus. Once the Iomega USB drivers are installed, only Iomega devices will be supported on USB connections. Do you want to install the Iomega USB drivers? Click on "Yes." Note: If you have, or are planning to install other USB devices, upgrade to Windows 98. Windows 98 has full USB support. 9. Completing the Iomega Software Setup screen - Select "Shut Down Now" and click "OK." 10. Restart the computer. 11. Iomega Software Setup screen states "No Iomega drives Detected." Click on "No." 12. Select "Close this Window" and click "OK." 13. The lomegaware program windows will be open. Leave open for now. 14. Connect the USB cable to the Zip drive and then connect to USB port on computer. 15. Plug the Zip drive AC adapter into power source and then to Zip drive. New hardware will be detected. 16. Restart computer. 17. Iomega Software Setup screen - 'Here are the Iomega drives found on your system: Zip 250 (x:). "Are all of your Iomega drives listed?" Click on "Yes." 18. "Congratulations! Installation is complete." screen. Click "OK." Installation is complete and the following will be listed in the Device Manager: Device Manager: Disk Drives: Iomega Zip250 SCSI Controllers: Intel 82371AB/EB PCI to USB Universal Host Controller USB: All devices and the USB category are removed. Installing Zip 250 Card - Windows 95 & PC Card/Cable Option 1. Complete above installation instructions. 2. Remove USB cable from computer’s USB connector. 3. Remove USB Cable and AC Adapter from Zip 250 drive. 4. Connect PC Card cable to Zip 250 drive. 5. Insert PC Card into PCMCIA slot. Installation is complete and the following will be listed in the Device Manager: Device Manager: Hard Disk Controllers: Iomega Win98 USB Disk Controller changed to Zip PC Card Drive is added PCMCIA Socket: PCMCIA Card Services is added USB Controller: Iomega USB Mass Storage Class Driver is removed. ********************************************************************* Installation - Windows 98B and Windows 98 Second Edition w/USB 1. Insert lomegaware v2.1 CD and it will AutoPlay. 2. Install Shield window opens and then the Windows Installer Window. 3. Iomega Software Setup - "Welcome to the Iomega Software Setup Wizard." Click "Next." 4. License Agreement screen - Select "I accept the terms" and click on "Next." 5. Select "Complete" and click on "Next." 6. Ready to Install the program - click on "Install." You will see several screens of file copying etc. Note: Units with NEC Open Host USB Controllers will receive the following: "Warning: Setup has determined that there may be a problem with your USB controller. Data loss may result if you use more than one USB device at the same time. See the documentation that shipped with your drive or cable for further details about your USB controller. Click "OK" to continue copying files. 7. Completing the Iomega Software Setup screen - Select "Shut Down Now" and click "OK." 8. Restart the computer. 9. Iomega Software Setup screen states "No Iomega drives Detected." Click on "No." 10. Select "Close this Window" and click "OK." 11. The lomegaware program windows will be open. Leave open for now. 12. Connect the USB cable to the Zip drive and then connect to USB port on computer. 13. Plug the Zip drive AC adapter into power source and then to Zip drive. New hardware will be detected. 14. Restart computer. 15. Iomega Software Setup screen - "Here are the Iomega drives found on your system: Zip 250 (x:). "Are all of your Iomega drives listed?" Click on "Yes." 16. "Congratulations! Installation is complete." screen. Click "OK." Installation is complete and the following will be listed in the Device Manager: DEVICE MANAGER SCSI Controllers: **!Iomega Click! Parallel Port Interface (can be removed) **!Iomega Parallel Port Zip Interface (can be removed) Disk Drives: Iomega Zip 250 Hard Disk Controllers:Iomega Win98 USB Disk Controller USB: Iomega USB Mass Storage Class Driver **Not installed on all units. Installing Zip 250 Card - Windows 98 & PC Card/Cable Option 1. Complete above installation instructions. 2. Remove USB Cable and AC Adapter connectors from Zip 250 drive. 3. Connect PC Card cable to Zip 250 drive. 4. Insert PC Card into PCMCIA slot. Installation is complete and the following will be listed in the Device Manager: Device Manager: Hard Disk Controllers: Iomega Win98 USB Disk Controller changed to Zip PC Card Drive PCMCIA Socket: PCMCIA Card Services USB Controller: Iomega USB Mass Storage Class Driver is removed. ********************************************************************* Installation - Windows NT Workstation 4.0 w/USB 1. Insert lomegaware v2.1 CD and it will AutoPlay. 2. Install Shield window opens and then the Windows Installer Window. 3. Iomega Software Setup - "Welcome to the Iomega Software Setup Wizard." Click "Next." 4. License Agreement screen - Select 'I accept the terms and click on 'Next. ' 5. Select "Complete" and click on "Next." 6. Ready to Install the program - click on "Install." You will see several screens of files copying, including a DOS window that will close on its own. 7. Completing the Iomega Software Setup screen - Select "Shut Down Now" and click "OK." 8. Shutdown Computer screen - Press the power button to turn computer off. 9. Connect the USB cable to the Zip drive and then connect to USB port on computer. 10. Plug the Zip drive AC adapter into power source and then to Zip drive 11. Restart computer. 12. Iomega Software Setup screen - "Here are the Iomega drives found on your system: Zip 250 (x:). "Are all of your Iomega drives listed?" Click on "Yes." 13. "Congratulations! Installation is complete." screen. Click "OK." Installation is complete and the following will be listed in Control Panel: Devices: IOMEGNT iomusb SCSI Adapters: Devices tab: Iomega USB Driver For Mass Storage; Iomega Zip 250 Drivers tab: Iomega Click! Parallel Port Interface (can be removed) Click!
