Hard Drive: Hard drive formatted with FAT 16 partition.120MB free space minimum, 500MB preferred

Setup: TSETUP (Toshiba CMOS setup) must be modified from factory default setting in order to install Windows NT 4.0 correctly.

Power on the computer while holding down "ESC" key

Press the "F1" key to enter the TSETUP menu.

Press the "HOME" key to select default setup

Use arrow key to go to "PC card Controller Mode" and change it to "PCIC Compatible"

ACCESS TO INSTALLATION MEDIA FROM CD-ROM OR NETWORK

If you have access to the internal SelectBay CD-ROM at this point, skip this section and go to "Installing Windows NT WorkStation 4.0." Otherwise, you will need to create a CD-ROM boot disk or Network boot disk if NT 4.0 setup files are located on a network server. For local installation via internal SelectBay CD-ROM,

- Create a bootable floppy disk on another computer.

- Copy the necessary CD-ROM drivers (TOSCDROM. SYS, MSCDEX.EXE) onto the bootable floppy disk, then create config.sys and autoexec.bat files to gain access to the internal CD-ROM. CD-ROM drivers can be found on the Toshiba web site. This example shows how to assign a drive letter Q to the internal CD-ROM.

[Config.sys] DEVICE=A:\TOSCDROM. SYS

[AUTOEXEC.BAT] A:\MSCDEX.EXE /L:Q /D:TOSCD001 /M:10 For network installation,

- Consult your network administrator on how to use a bootable disk to gain access to a file server containing NT 4.0 installation files. This technote will primarily discuss CD-ROM installation.
