Issue

The process tcpsvcs.exe may be occupying a large percentage of the CPU's attention, as reported in the CPU Usage column of the Windows Task Manager.

Resolution

If you are not using a printer over a network, you can resolve this by removing TCP/IP Print Services .

Procedure

Follow these steps to remove TCP/IP Print Services:

  1. Click Start and then click Control Panel (or Start, Settings, Control Panel).

  2. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.

  3. In the Add or Remove Programs window, click the Add/Remove Windows Components button (on the left side of the window).

  4. In the Windows Components Wizard dialog box, find the Network Services entry. Click it once (do not check its checkbox), then click the Details button.

  5. In the Networking Services dialog box, un-check Simple TCP/IP Services and click OK. Click Next in the Windows Components Wizard dialog box.

TCP/IP Print Services will no longer be running once the Wizard has finished updating Windows settings.
