- Issue
Microsoft Outlook is not able to detect a Mail Profile, even when one has been created. This causes the following error message to appear, when a Pocket PC PDA is synchronized:
("No profiles have been created. To create a new profile, use the Mail icon in the Control Panel.")
After clicking the OK button, the following error message may appear:
("Synchronization cannot be completed because your personal information manager (PIM) program cannot be accessed. Ensure your PIM program is running, and try to synchronize again. If your PIM program is running, restart your desktop computer").
- Resolution
For Windows XP, click Start, then All Programs, then right-click on Microsoft ActiveSync, and click Properties. The user interface should appear as in this screen shot:...and the "Microsoft ActiveSync Properties" window should appear:
Click the Compatibility tab. Uncheck "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
The PDA should now be able to synchronize successfully (as long as a Profile has already been created, via the Mail icon in Control Panel). This Compatibility tab is not available in Windows 2000.
