The Toshiba Mini PCI Wi-Fi card is available from at least three sources:

1. ToshibaDirect. The following link leads directly to the ToshibaDirect Accessories page. Telephone orders may be placed with Toshiba Direct at 1-800-959-4100.
   
   
2. Selected Toshiba computer dealers. 
   
   
3. Some Toshiba Authorized Service Providers (ASPs).  Since only an ASP is authorized to install this card, an ASP may be the most convenient source for it.

A complete worldwide list of Toshiba Authorized Service Providers is available at Toshiba's Global ASP Locator at http://pcrepair.toshiba.com  It's best to contact the ASP in advance to verify that the card is in stock, and that it may be installed in your model of Toshiba notebook computer.

This card is installed during manufacturing in some Toshiba notebook computers. The best way to determine whether or not a given Toshiba computer already has a Mini PCI Wi-Fi card installed is to look for it in Device Manager's listing (Start > Settings > Control Panel > System > Device Manager > Network Adapters). If the card is present, there should be a corresponding entry labeled "Toshiba Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card" or some wording very similar to that.

Two indicators that a Toshiba notebook computer may have a Mini PCI Wi-Fi card installed are:

1. A Wi-Fi switch (with an antenna icon) on the computer's case.
2. A "Wi-Fi The standard for wireless fidelity" sticker on the bottom surface of the computer's case.

ToshibaDirect also sells other varieties of both wired and wireless network cards, and has some advice regarding compatibility between network cards and Toshiba notebook computer models. Many current Toshiba models come with a built-in wired networking card (10-baseT Ethernet). All current Toshiba models have USB ports and PC Card slots, making it easy to add a wide variety of network adapters, including Wi-Fi products. Check the specifications list for network adapters to make sure that they are compatible with your computer and with the version of Windows installed on it.
