This bulletin explains how to install the Toshiba Mail Speech application (part of the Toshiba Text-to-Speech for Pocket PC software suite) on the Toshiba Pocket PC e400 / e405.- Resolution
First, install the Toshiba Text-to-Speech for Pocket PC software suite from the Companion CD:- Connect your Pocket PC e400 / e405 to your computer.
- Establish an ActiveSync session.
- Start the Text-to-Speech installation by running the Setup program.
- Watch for indications of any additional steps required to complete the installation.
Start the Mail Speech application:
- Open your e-mail Inbox, and select the mail account from which you wish to have messages read aloud.
- Tap Start, Programs, then Mail Speech. Mail Speech will start speaking aloud the message from the header information of the unread e-mail list. Note that the currently read / spoken phrase is highlighted.
You may find the following navigation controls useful:

Play: Starts reading aloud the selected e-mail.

Pause: Stops reading. Tapping Play again causes the app to continue reading the text.

Stop: Causes Mail Speech to stop reading the text aloud.

Exit: Closes the Mail Speech application.
Tap the Tools menu item for the following special functions:
- Refresh: Refreshes the status of the e-mail database.
- Settings: Starts the Speech Settings.
- Exit: Closes the program.
- About: Displays the version information screen.
Tap and hold selected words to display the pop-up Copy menu.
Error message note:
If you see "Internal error occurred. Error code FF020001." while opening the Mail Speech software, please reset the PDA, and reinstall the Mail Speech software.
