
Determining the version of Windows XP Media Center Edition (MCE)

Follow these steps to determine which version of Windows XP Media Center Edition (MCE) is running on a Media Center PC.1. From the Media Center Start page, click Settings.
2. Click General.
3. Click About Media Center.
4. (In some versions) click Software Version.
The version name and number will be displayed.
"Windows XP Media Center Edition" indicates the initial version of the OS. The last four digits of the version number will be "1217".
"Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004" indicates a later version of the OS. The last four digits of the version number will be some value greater than 1217.
