When detaching the USB storage device from the Port Replicator on the "Safely remove hardware" icon on the task bar, Blue Screen errors may occur.

These errors are caused by the USB device driver of Windows XP. Therefore, please install the latest USB device driver via Windows Update on the Start Menu after updating to the specified BIOS version or subsequent versions for your PC.

Applicable BIOS version for the following PCs:

Portege 4000 BIOS V2.10

Portege 4010 BIOS V1.40

Satellite Pro 6000 BIOS V1.60

Satellite Pro 6050 BIOS V1.50

Tecra TE 2000 BIOS V1.40

How to install the latest USB device driver:

i) Select "Windows Update" from the Start Menu.

ii) Chose "Personalize Windows Update".

iii) Check "Display the link to the Windows Update Catalog under See Also".

iv) Click "Save Settings" button.

v) Choose "Windows Update Catalog" from the menu on the left side.

vi) Choose "Find updates for Microsoft Windows operating systems".

vii) From "Operating system:", choose "Windows XP SP1. Then click the "Search" button.

viii) Click "Recommended Updates".

ix) From "Recommended Updates", choose the following Windows XP update

"Recommended Update for Windows XP SP1 (KB822603)". Then click the "Add" button.

x) Please install the "Recommended Update for Windows XP SP1 (KB822603)" after clicking "Go to Download Basket".

Caution:

i) It is necessary to have Service Pack 1 in advance in order to apply the update.

ii) In the case of Portege 4000, the USB devices may not function after resuming from

stand by, even after the specified BIOS and "Recommended Update for Windows XP SP1

(KB822603)" have been updated. In this case, please restart the PC.
