When you attempt to restart, the system will hang during reboot intermittently after Power-On Self-Test (POST). The backlight remains on, and the screen may turn white.

Install the following QFE from the Recovery and Applications DVD that was bundled with the computer.

QFE Hotfix for HAL module of Windows XP SP1 KB822624.

To install this QFE from the Recovery CD, do the following:

1. If the computer is on, shut it down completely.
2. Turn the computer on, and let Windows boot completely.
3. Insert the Recovery and Applications CD.
4. From the menu that pops up, choose the option to install Applications and Drivers.
5. In the list of applications and drivers that are available, choose "QFE Hotfix for HAL module of Windows XP SP1 KB822624"
6. Click the "Install" button.
7. An extraction dialog window will pop up, click "Ok"
8. Click "Unzip" to let the file extract itself to the hard drive.
9. A notification that the file as extracted will pop up, click "Ok"
10. The setup Wizard for the QFE will now open, click "Next"
11. Select "Agree", then click "Next"
12. The installation will proceed. When prompted, click "Finish"
13. Restart the computer to complete the installation.
