Toshiba does not test or certify hard disk drives for the replacement or upgrading of the hard disk drives built into Toshiba notebook computers. Considering the technical difficulties that are sometimes present, and the risk of damage to the computer or to the hard disk drive, Toshiba does not offer information or advice about replacement or upgrading of hard disk drives. Some Premier Authorized Service Providers offer hard drive upgrades for Toshiba notebook computers. In some cases, they offer warranties beyond those provided by the hard disk drive manufacturers.Toshiba Premier Authorized Service Providers are intensively trained in the operation and repair of Toshiba notebook computers. They are in good position to determine such factors as power and physical size requirements and limitations. They have the special tools and training that are sometimes needed to open the notebook computer's case, and to upgrade or replace the hard disk drive. Some of these ASPs can move your data to the new hard disk drive.

The computer's warranty:
The computer's warranty will not ordinarily be voided by the upgrade or replacement of the hard disk drive, unless it is clear that the drive itself -- or the installation of it -- has been the cause of damage to the computer. The computer's warranty may be voided if the drive is not installed properly, and any damage to the computer occurs during the installation or use of the new drive. To protect yourself from these risks, make arrangements with a Toshiba Premier Authorized Service Provider to replace or upgrade your hard disk drive.
The warranty for the new hard disk drive itself will be provided by its manufacturer. An additional warranty may be provided by the Authorized Service Provider.
