
Computer Automatically Dials to the Internet

Computer starts dialing an internet connection by itself.
CAUSE:
The cause is a file named rasautou.exe. This is the remote access connection command. The file cannot be erased, and when the process is halted in Windows Task Manager it sometimes returns within seconds. It is designed to automatically connect you to the internet.
- Resolution
To disable the file from dialing out to the internet automatically, please follow these steps:
1. Click on the Start button > go to Run > Type in COMMAND. At the c:\ command prompt, type these two lines and hit Enter after each one:
sc config rasauto start= disabled
net stop rasauto
Registry Editor - REGEDIT WARNING!!!
The following procedure involves viewing the Windows Registry files. Using the Registry Editor incorrectly an cause serious problems which may cause the loss of data, and may require you to reinstall Windows. Neither Toshiba nor Microsoft will guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. For information related to editing and restoring the registry, view the online Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe).
Important: You should always make a backup copy of the registry files before you edit the registry.
Use the Registry Editor at your own risk!
2. a. From the Start menu, click Run.
b. In the Run dialog box, type: Regedit. Click OK.
c. In the Registry Editor window, locate the following keys:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\RAS AutoDial
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\RAS AutoDial\Default
d. Do not delete the key, but remove any entries other than the "Default" entry, under the 2 keys listed below in the registry.
3. Click on the Start button > go to Run > Type in COMMAND. At the c:\ command prompt, type in rasautou -s this will list out any autodial addresses.
Enumerating AutoDial addresses... There should be 0 Autodial addresses.
