Issue

How to install a Targus DVD 32-bit cable in a Portege 3500.

Resolution
  1. Attach the 16-bit PCMCIA cable to the Targus DVD drive. The Portege 3500 should be turned on and in Windows.
  2. Plug the PCMCIA card into the computer and the DVD drive will be found.
  3. Put the Targus NoteWorthy NWDVD04 Driver CD in the DVD drive.
  4. Find and double click on Install file on the Driver CD. This will create a CARDBUS folder on Drive C:. Remove the 16-bit PCMCIA from the computer and disconnect it from the Targus NoteWorthy DVD drive.
  5. Attach the 32-bit Cardbus cable to the DVD drive and insert the PCMCIA card at the end of the cable into the computer. After the PCMCIA card is inserted the computer will respond by saying the New Hardware is found.
  6. Click Next and then select "Search for a suitable driver for my device" and click Next. The next screen will give a couple of options. Choose "Install from a list or specific location" and enter C:\CARDBUS or click the Browse button and select the CARDBUS folder under drive C:.
  7. Click OK, click Next, click Yes or Continue anyway to continue and finally click Finish.

You are now ready to use your Targus NoteWorthy DVD drive with the 32-bit Cardbus cable and enhanced performance driver.
