Information

  • CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drivers. Toshiba uses standard EIDE optical drives (CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD-ROM, DVD-RW, etc.) in its computers. No special drivers are required for use with Windows operating systems.

  • DVD Decoder Drivers. Due to licensing restrictions, Toshiba is not able to provide DVD decoder drivers or software on its website.

Some older models (Tecra 750/780/8000 and Portege 7000/7010/7020) have built-in hardware DVD decoders. For these models, with Windows 98 and 98SE, use the DVD decoder drivers from the Configuration Builder CD that came with your system. Windows 2000 and Windows XP have built-in support for the hardware DVD decoders in these models.

For other DVD-capable models, a software decoder is provided in the DVD player application (DVDExpress or WinDVD, for example) that was factory-installed on the computer.

CD and DVD drives that are not part of a Toshiba computer are supported by the Toshiba Storage Device Division, or by the drive's vendor.
