- Issue
When connecting to the Magnia Server using the Emergency Management Port Console, via
Serial Port (9 Pin Null Modem Cable), the Redirect Window is blank and does not reflect POST
information during boot.
Synonym - EMP, E.M.P., or Emergency Management Port
- Resolution
To enable EMP console redirection do the following:
- GO to the Server’s BIOS [under Server, Console Redirection]:
- Make sure the Com Port Address matches the Com Port Settings setup in the System Setup Utility. Also see TN# 98080750 Preparation for using the Emergency Management Port
- Baud Rate = 19.2K
- Console Type = PC ANSI
- Flow Control = CTS/RTS.
COMMENT:
The default setting for the Flow Control is set to CTS/RTS + CD. This enables modem
communication between the EMP Console and the Server. If the connection between Server and
EMP Console is done via Direct Connection (Null Modem Cable), Flow Control must be set to
CTS/RTS + CD or a blank screen will display when in Redirect Mode.
