- You have a requirement to remove Windows NT.
- Resolution
The following procedure will remove WIndows NT from your computer.
NTFS Note: If you are using an NTFS partition see "NTFS Information" below.- If you have data you wish to save - BACK IT UP! (letters, databases, spreadsheets, presentations, templates, etc.
- Boot to MS-DOS
- Type SYS C:
Note: Replaces the Windows NT boot sector with the MS-DOS boot sector. - Delete the following NT files and folders:
Pagefile.sys
Boot.ini
Ntldr
Ntdetect.com
Ntbootdd.sys
Users
Winnt (or whatever you named your system root folder).
NTFS Information:
If your primary partition is formatted with NTFS, the only way to remove Windows NT and restart MS-DOS automatically, is to reformat the partition and then reinstall whichever OS you wish to use: MS-DOS, Windows 95, or Windows 98, etc..- Export Control and EULA
