Issue
How to search and install USB drivers from Microsoft Windows updates.
Resolution
  1. Go to http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/catalog/en/default.asp
  2. Choose Windows Update Catalog (if it doesn't appear see sub notes)
    If Windows Update Catalog does NOT appear under See Also
    -Under Other Options Click the box Personalize Windows Update.
    -Click the box Display the link to the Windows Update Catalog under: See Also
    -Click Save Settings in the upper right corner.
  3. Find driver updates for hardware devices.
  4. Other Hardware.
  5. Manufacturer Name - Microsoft
  6. Operating System and Language
  7. Date Posted to the Web Site - All Posted Date
  8. Search for - USB, not USB 2.0
  9. CLICK SORT BY POSTED DATE
  10. DOWNLOAD FILE - Windows 2000 - Microsoft USB Driver Version 5.1.2600.0 - (Posted Date: December 28, 2002)

  11. Save the file to a folder on your computer.
  12. Right-click on the My Computer desktop icon, select Properties, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
  13. Double-click on the Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller and click on the General tab. Click on the Reinstall Driver button.
  14. When the Upgrade Device Driver Wizards opens, click Next.
  15. The Update Device Driver Wizard dialog box will appear and detect an Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller. Select Search for a suitable driver for my device (Recommended). Click Next.
  16. On the Locate Driver Files window, uncheck all options except Specify a location. Click Next.
  17. Click Browse and find your directory where you download the file.
