
Display settings cannot be changed under Windows NT 4.0 with PC Anywhere installed

- Issue
- After installing a display adapter driver to be able to change the display settings from VGA display mode, Windows NT will require a reboot. The message, "Invalid Display Settings" will display and you will still be unable to change to the proper display settings.
- Resolution
If PC Anywhere is installed on the computer, follow these steps to resolve this issue.
- Disable AW_HOST.SYS
- Install new video drivers.
- Reboot the computer.
- Configure video settings in control panel under Display.
- Enable AW_HOST.SYS
- Reboot before using PC Anywhere as a host.
AW_HOST.SYS can be disabled using the following procedure.
- Enter Control Panel and select Devices.
- Select the AW_HOST device.
- Click on the Startup button.
- Set the Startup Type to Disabled.
- A dialog will appear that says "Changing the Startup Type for the AW_HOST device may leave the system in an unusable state. Do you want to make the change?"
- Click on the Yes button.
AW_HOST.SYS can be enabled using the following procedure.
- Enter Control Panel and select Devices.
- Select the AW_HOST device.
- Click on the Startup button.
- Set the Startup Type to System.
