
How to Setup Wireless Connectivity to a Toshiba Wireless LCD Projector under Windows 2000 Professional

- Setup the projector
a. Insert the Toshiba Wireless PC card that shipped with the projector into the PC card slot located under the smoke-colored plastic cover at the left rear of the projector. The PC card should be inserted into the slot with the white MAC address label facing away from you. To remove the plastic cover, press in slightly on the ribbed area on the cover and slide it to the left. Replace the smoke-colored plastic cover by sliding it back in place on the left rear of the projector.
b. Plug the AC power cord in the projector and an available wall outlet (100-240VAC 50/60Hz)
c. Remove the lens cover.
d. Power on the projector by depressing and releasing the On/Standby button on the top of the projector or the remote control. The lamp takes 17-20 seconds to reach full luminance, so please be patient. Replace the smoke-colored plastic cover by sliding it back in place on the left rear of the projector.
e. Depress and release the Input button on top of the projector or remote to bring up the Input selection menu, use the up/down navigation buttons on top of the projector to highlight PC Card from the list, and press the Menu button on top of the projector or remote control to make the selection. PCCard is displayed in the upper left corner of the projected image briefly. Next an image of a wireless PC card will be shown indicating the MAC address of the PC card, the Projector name (if present) and a status of "Not connected". This is normal at this time.
- Load the Toshiba Data Projector software on your
computer.
a. Insert the Toshiba Data Projector software CD into your CD-ROM drive.
b. Double-click the My Computer icon on the Windows 2000 desktop.
c. Double-click the CD-ROM drive icon.
d. Double-click the Applications folder.
e. Double-click Setup.
f. Click Next to continue the installation.
g. Click Yes to accept the license agreement.
h. Click Next to accept the default destination folder for the software (C:\Program Files\Toshiba\Data Projector\).
i. Setup will display the installation status as the files are copied from the CD to your hard drive.
j. Click Finish to complete the installation.
- Configure the wireless card in your computer.
These instructions assume that the driver for your
wireless card is already installed and that only
configuration left to do is configure the TCP/IP settings
for the wireless card and the wireless network settings.
a. Click Start > Settings> Network and Dial-up Connections.
b. Click the icon that represents the wireless local area network connection to highlight it and verify the Status (It will be displayed in the left-hand portion of the open window). If the Status is Disabled, right-click the icon and select Enable; otherwise, proceed to step c.
c. Right-click the icon that represents the wireless local area network connection and select Properties.
d. Click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) under "Components checked are used by this connection:" to highlight it then click the Properties button.
e. Click the radio button next to "Use the following IP address:" to choose this option.
f. Enter an IP address and subnet mask. The IP address must be the range of 192.168.100.1 to 192.168.100.254, however the fourth number (octet) cannot end in 45 (i.e. 192.168.100.245 would be invalid because it ends in 45). The subnet mask to use is 255.255.255.0
g. Click OK to accept the settings and close the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties dialog box.
h. Click OK to close the Properties dialog box.
i. Click the X in the upper right corner of the Network and Dial-up Connections window to close it.
- Configure the specific client software for the
wireless network card that is being used. You
will need to set the SSID (Network Name) to DPJ, the
communication mode to Ad-Hoc or Peer-to-Peer, the Channel
for the wireless LAN card in the computer should be set
to 10 to match the projector. The following instructions
are for the two variations of the Toshiba Wireless LAN
Client Manager. If you are using a different wireless LAN
client manager, follow the directions that shipped with
the wireless LAN card you are using.
Toshiba Wireless LAN Client Manager v2.58:
a. Click Start > Programs > Toshiba Wireless Solution > Client Manager.
b. Click the Actions option from the menu.
c. Click Add/Edit Configuration Profile.
d. Click the Add button.
e. Enter a Profile Name (i.e. Projector). Make it meaningful especially if you have multiple wireless profiles.
f. Pick Peer-to-Peer Group from the list under Network Type.
g. Click Next.
h. Enter DPJ (in all capital letters) for the Network Name (this is also known as an SSID).
i. Choose channel 10 (this is the default for the projector) from the list under Channel Number.
j. Click Next.
k.Leave the default Security options and click Next.
l. Leave the default Power Management options and click Next.
m. Leave the default TCP/IP Behavior options and click Finish.
n. Click OK to close the Add/Edit Configuration Profile dialog box.
o. Click OK to close the Toshiba Wireless LAN Client Manager dialog box.
p. Newer version of the Toshiba Wireless LAN Client Manager:
Toshiba Wireless LAN Client Manager v1.34:
a. Click Start > Programs > Toshiba Wireless Solution > Client Manager. If a dialog box pops up indicating that the client manager is already active, click OK to close the dialog box and double-click the barograph looking icon located in the system tray (left side of the taskbar by the time).
b. Click the Actions option from the menu.
c. Click Add/Edit Configuration Profile.
d. Click one of the radio buttons next to the profile that you want to add/edit.
e. Enter a name for the profile (i.e. Projector). Make it meaningful especially if you have multiple wireless profiles.
f. Press the [TAB] key once to highlight the default network type "Access Point".
g. Click the drop-down arrow and select "Peer-to-Peer Group" from the list.
h. Click the Edit Profile button.
i. Enter DPJ (in all capital letters) for the Network Name (this is also known as an SSID).
j. Click OK to accept the settings and close the Edit Configuration dialog box.
k. Click OK to close the Add/Edit Configuration Profile dialog box.
l. Click OK to close the Toshiba Wireless LAN Client Manager dialog box.
Launch the Wireless Utility
a. Double-click the Wireless Utility icon on the Windows XP desktop or click Start > All Programs > Toshiba Data Projector > Wireless Utility.
b. From within this utility you can perform the following tasks: 1) send a screen image to the projector, 2) send a JPEG image file (*.jpg, *.jpe) to the projector, or send a captured image taken with the document camera (not available on DLP-T500 and DLP-T700) and send it to your computer. Please see your Owner's Manual for details on using the Wireless Utility.
