dynaEdge Utilities

dynaEdge Utilities are set tools that enhance the function of the AR100 HMD and dynaEdge Mobile Mini PC. dynaEdge Utilities comprises dynaEdge Configuration Utility, dynaEdge Button Service, dynaEdge AR100 Configuration Service, dynaEdge Sign-in Assist, and dynaEdge Controller.

• dynaEdge Configuration Utility

dynaEdge Configuration Utility is an application that allows users to configure the buttons on the dynaEdge Mobile Mini PC and AR100 HMD.  It also allows you to configure settings for the AR100 display, touchpad and sign-in options. For more information, please see “dynaEdge Configuration Utility Operation Manual.pdf” located in the User Manuals folder.

• dynaEdge Button Service and dynaEdge AR100 Configuration Service

dynaEdge Button Service and dynaEdge AR100 Configuration Service are services required to run dynaEdge Configuration Utility and dynaEdge Controller. These services are installed as part of the dynaEdge Utilities installation.

• dynaEdge Controller

dynaEdge Controller is an application designed to make the dynaEdge Mobile Mini PC and AR100 HMD easier to use. It allows you to use the 5 buttons on the dynaEdge to launch and operate 3^rd party applications, adjust the screen resolution and toggle the LED flashlight of the AR100 HDM. For more information, please see “dynaEdge_Controller_Operation_Manual.pdf” located in the User Manuals folder.

• dynaEdge Sign-in Assist

dynaEdge Sign-in Assist is an application that allows users to input their password or PIN and sign in to Windows using the 5 buttons on the dynaEdge Mobile Mini PC. For more information, please see “dynaEdge_Sign-in_Assist_Operation_Manual.pdf” located in the User Manuals folder.

Best Practices

            Install dynaEdge Utilities

1. Visit the Dynabook Solutions Download Site and log in with the credentials that were provided to you in the Welcome Letter.
2. Download dynaEdge Utilities and extract the contents to your local hard drive
3. Run the installation file (e.g. TCxxxxxx.exe) from the dynaEdge Utility folder

• For silent installation, run the installation file from an elevated command prompt with a “/s” switch: TCxxxxxx.exe /s

4. Restart your PC

Change Windows Power Button Settings

Dynabook recommends that you set the power button on the dynaEdge Mobile Mini PC to initiate “hibernate” or “hybrid sleep”.  By selecting the power button to “hibernate” or “hybrid sleep”, users are able to seamlessly swap the battery by pressing the power button and waiting for the system to go entirely into sleep mode.  Once the system is in sleep mode, the user can then proceed to swap the battery.

To set the power button to either “hibernate” or “hybrid sleep” through the Windows Control Panel settings:

A.  Enable Hybrid Sleep

• Go to: Control Panel / Power Options / Change Plan Settings / Change advanced power settings / Sleep / Allow hybrid sleep

B.  Assign Hibernate option to Power Button

• Control Panel / Power Options / Choose what the power button does, then choose “When I press the power button” and change from “Sleep” to “Hibernate”

Vuzix® Geolocation Sensor Driver (optional)

• The AR100 HMD features a GPS sensor. To utilize this GPS sensor, please download and install the Vuzix Geolocation Sensor Driver from the Solutions Download Site.

NOTE: If you do not install the Vuzix Geolocation Sensor Driver, then the GPS sensor will not be enabled.
