Laptop freezes after logging into McAfee Full Disk Encryption or won't boot to Windows

Issue

 

The laptop freezes or wont load Windows after logging into McAfee full disk encryption.

This symptom often can be described as one of the following:

- Stuck on McAfee screen

- Takes multiple tries to boot computer

- Unable to log into McAfee Ful Disk Encryption

- Long time to start computer

- Boot up time is several minutes

- Slow boot up

 

 

Resolution

 

Change the LAN Boot Selection in BIOS to Thunderbolt Dock.

To make this BIOS change follow these steps

1) Turn the laptop completely off so it is not in hibernate or sleep state

2) Hold down the F2 key and momentarily press the POWER button while continuing to hold down the F2 key

3) When the TOSHIBA Setup Utility open you can release the F2 key

4) ARROW DOWN to the Advanced option on the left

5) Use the ARROW RIGHT key to move into the middle pane

6) Use the ARROW DOWN key to go down to LAN Boot Selection

7) Press ENTER

8) Select Thunderbolt Dock and press ENTER

9) Press F10

10) Select YES to save and re-boot
