
Dim display or Dark display on Tecra or Portege laptops

If the LCD display is dim or dark you should check Windows Display and Power management settings, including the BIOS for settings to improve the brightness. NOTE: Brightness levels can have an impact on battery run time.
- Resolution
First check Windows Power and Sleep settings
- Search and select "Power & Sleep settings"
- Select Additional power settings
- Look for Screen Brightness at the bottom to maximize the screen brightness
Next check Display settings for the option "Change brightness automatically when lighting changes"
- Search and select "Power & Sleep settings"
- Select Display
- Look for the option "Change brightness automatically shen lighting changes" and turn off this option
- NOTE: This option is not available on all laptops
Finally check for power management setting sin BIOS
From a complete shutdown where the laptop is powered off completely.
- Press and hold the F12 key while powering on the computer.
- Select Setup from the boot menu
- Select Power Management from the BIOS menu
- Select BIOS Power Management
- Select Full Power or Select User setting and then select LCD brightness to you liking. If selecting Full Power LCD brightness will be forced to Bright. (warning that battery life will be impacted by these settings)
- Press F10 to Save and Exit
- Press Yes to Save changes
