- Information
If the Blu-ray player only has an HDMI output and the TV does not have an HDMI input, you can connect an HDMI cable to the TV but it requires either an adapter or a converter, depending on the available TV inputs.
NOTE: The Orange RCA (coaxial digital) connector on some players is for audio only to an external audio system and does not provide a video signal.
- An adpater simply connects to the end of the HDMI cable to allow it to be plugged into the TV.
- A converter converts the HDMI signal into separate audio and video signals to allow it to connect and display properly on the TV.
Examples of HDMI adapters include:
- HDMI to DVI
Examples of HDMI converters include:
- HDMI to Component
- HDMI to Composite
- HDMI to S-video
- HDMI to VGA
NOTE: Toshiba does not sell adapters or converters. They must be purchased from a 3rd party retailer.
