No signal displayed when connected to a PS3™

In some cases, when a Play Station3 is first connected to a TV, no signal is displayed.

To assist in diagnosis of this issue, verify the following:

  • The TV input that the PS3's video is connected to is selected as the video input source on the TV.
  • The PS3 works with other TVs.
  • Another device (Blu-ray, DVD player, etc...) connected to the same TV input works fine.

As a possible remedy, perform the following on the PS3:

  1. Place the PS3 in standby mode, turned "off" but the power switch in back in the ON position. (The red power LED on the front will be illuminated.)
  2. Press and hold the PS3's power button until it beeps twice. This will reset the PS3's video output.
