
Changing your Windows 7 password

This information is written for Windows 7. Earlier versions of Windows operating systems may be similar.
To change your own password
1. Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete and choose Change a password.
2. Follow the instructions, tap or click Submit, and then tap or click OK.NOTE: From here you can also choose to create a password disc. This is recommended and is helpful in dealing with a forgotten password without having to reinstall Windows and loosing your data.
To change other people's passwords
NOTE: To change passwords for other user accounts, you'll need an administrator account.
- Open the Start menu.
- Go to "Control Panel".
- Choose "Users Accounts and Family Safety".
- Select "User Accounts".
- Locate and select "Manage another account".
- On the next screen, choose the account you want to modify.
- When the account displays, select "Change the Password" and follow the instructions.
