How do I set, change, or remove a UEFI, BIOS, or HDD (hard disk drive) password?

If you do not know or have forgotten the BIOS or UEFI password CLICK HERE.

If you know the password for the BIOS or UEFI or don't have one set, you can change or remove a password through the UEFI/BIOS settings, Hardware Setup Utility, or TOSHIBA Security Assist Utility.

You can use the UEFI or BIOS to set, change, or remove a UEFI, BIOS, or HDD password. See the appropriate article linked below to learn how to access the UEFI or BIOS. Once you've accessed the UEFI or BIOS, look in the "Security" section for the UEFI, BIOS, and HDD passwords.

Hardware Setup

Some computers come with the Hardware Setup application that can be used to change UEFI or BIOS settings. To open the Hardware Setup utility, do the following:

  1. Press the Windows key.
  2. Type "HWSetup" to begin searching for the Hardware Setup application.
  3. Select "HWSetup" from the search results.

Security Assist

Some computers come with the Security Assist utility. To open Security Assist, do the following:

  1. Press the Windows key.
  2. Type "Security" to begin searching for the Security Assist utility.
  3. Select"Security Assist" from the search results.
