Green or Black Screen when using a Motorola HD Cable Converter
Symptoms
A TV used with a Motorola HD Cable Converter displays a green or black screen when turned on or when a channel is changed.
Diagnosis
These symptoms are caused by an interaction with the Motorola Cable Converter Box (HD Version.)
Solution
Disable the 4:3 Override on the cable converter using the following procedure:
- Turn the “converter off”. Leave the TV on with the selected input for the converter.
- Press the “Menu” button on the cable remote until a “User Settings” menu appears on the TV screen. The screen will appear after several seconds of pressing the menu button. (This is the user menu from the cable box).
Some models may require the “Menu” button on the front of the unit to be pressed in place of the using the remote.
- Press the up (^) or down (v) arrow button to select "4:3 OVERIDE” in the User Settings Menu
- Press the left (<) or right (>) arrow to select “Off”
- Press the “power key” to save the setting change
You may now resume normal operation.
The above procedure will apply with most newer Motorola HD cable converter boxes.
