Display dims intermittently

Question

The laptop will automatically and seemingly randomly dim the screen for about 15 seconds, and then un-dim back to the original brightness setting.  How can this be fixed?

Answer

On some systems, changing the settings in the Intel Graphics and Media Control Panel can solve this problem.

Open the Intel HD Graphics properties/options, select "Power," and then navigate to the advanced settings.

Change "Power Plans" to "Maximum Performance" and disable "Display Power Saving Technology" under "Power Conservation Features."
