Connecting a TV to a surround sound system for audio

Question

I want to connect my TV to a sound system to send the sound through the better speakers. What is the best way to do that?

Answer

On the rear of your TV is a connector labeled OPTICAL that provides a digital audio output signal. This is used to connect your TV to an external audio device such as a stereo surround sound receiver. This connection will also send any audio coming into the TV from external devices to the receiever (as long as the external devices have an audio connection to the TV.) You will need to purchase an optical cable seperately.
