Weak Wi-Fi internet signal while on battery power

Issue

After removing AC power from your laptop you start to experience a very weak wifi internet connection that drops off and disconnects.

Resolution

Change the Wireless Adapter Setting while on Battery power using the following procedure

  1. Click or press Windows Start 
  2. Type 'power'
  3. Click on Power Options
  4. Click on the Change plan settings link next to the selected plan. (see Fig 1)
  5. Click Change Advanced Power Settings (see Fig 2)
  6. Expand Wireless Adapter Settings
  7. Expand Power Saving Mode
  8. Change On Battery: to Maximum Performance (see fig 3)-- After making this change, you'll have stronger wireless strength, but you'll notice your battery performance decrease.
