Error when creating recovery media (disc) while using Recovery Media Creator

When using Recovery Media Creator to create recovery discs you get the following error:

"An error occured when writing the files, there was an error in burning disc. The disc will not be reused again."

To remedy, perform the following:

  1. Remove the blank disc.
  2. Open the directory for the Optical Disc Drive.
  3. Delete all temporary files or all pending files to be burned.
  4. Uninstall the CD/DVD drivers using Device Manager.
    A. In Windows 7, type "Device Manager" in the Start Menu and press ENTER.
    B. In Windows 8, type "Device Manager" at the Start screen, select Settings, and press ENTER.
    C. Select DVD/CD-ROM drives > right-click on the drive entry > select Uninstall.
    D. After the driver uninstalls, reboot your computer. Driver will install automatically.
  5. Scan for hardware changes and ensure the CD/DVD drive is reinstalled.
  6. Launch Recovery Media Creator.
  7. Uncheck the VERIFY box.
  8. Insert a blank disc and click the Create button to start creating the recovery discs.
