Q. SSDs with USB connection are not displayed on the drive list.
A. Storage Utilities does not work on the drive with USB connection. Please use it with SATA connection.
Q. The erasing method cannot be selected in Secure Erase menu.
A. If the drives and OS are not supported the erasing methods (*1), and the drives are not the state that can be run (*2), the erasing methods are displayed in grey and cannot select. *1: Normal Secure Erase, Enhanced Secure Erase of Security Erase Unit command are not supported by Windows® 8 or later. And Block Erase, Cryptographic Erase of Sanitize Device feature set are not supported by Windows® 8.1. Please perform Secure Erase on Linux® OS, when it is not supported by Windows® OS. *2: Normal Secure Erase and Enhanced Secure Erase do not work with the status of Security Locked or Security Frozen. And Block Erase and Cryptographic Erase do not work with the status of Security Locked or Sanitize Frozen.
Q. When creating a bootable USB, the capacity of USB flash drive is too small.
A. Creating the bootable USB requires the capacity of about 250 MB. Prepare USB flash drive of 256MB or above to creating of the bootable USB. Please perform ""USB Flash Drive Capacity Restore"" in Supplementary Tools menu for restoring the capacity of USB flash drive. Please refer to user's manual for the detailed.
Q. My system will not boot using created media
A. Your system may not restart by using created bootable media depending on the PC operation environment. If the BIOS is updated to the latest version, it may start, or start with an external CD/DVD drive. In Windows® 8 or later, you need to disable UEFI Secure boot.
Q. SSD has become Security Locked during Secure Erase, and cannot erase data.
A. Storage Utilities lock the drive by a security password in Secure Erase. If Secure Erase fails for some reason, such as power interruption, the drive will be password lock state. Please contact the support center for how to remove the security password.
