- Do not power off while the BIOS is being updated.
- The AC-Adapter must be used during the update process.
USB Flash Drive Creation Instructions
- From a TOSHIBA PC running Windows Vista, 7, 8.x, or 10, unzip the file.
- Attach a USB flash drive to the PC with a capacity of at least 32MB.
- Verify the drive letter of USB flash drive.
- Rename the drive to 'FREEDOSUSB'.
- Run 'FreeDOSMake.exe'.
- Select the correct USB flash drive letter then click 'Start'.
- If the message “A corresponding label is not found. (FREEDOSUSB)” or “Device read error.” appears after clicking the Start button, click the Start button again. It may take several attempts.
- The USB flash drive will be made after about a minute.
Installation Instructions
- When updating BIOS on a system with a Windows 8 or newer operating system, you must disable Secure Boot and change the Boot Mode from UEFI to CSM.
- To access the BIOS setup menu, while powering on the system, press and hold the [F2] key.
- Navigate to the Security tab and disable Secure Boot, then navigate to the Advanced section and change the Boot Mode.
- Press the [F10] key and save the changes.
- With the system powered off, Insert the USB stick containing the BIOS into an empty USB port then power on the system. The BIOS will start to update automatically.
- When the BIOS update has completed, the system may shut down.
- Confirm that the BIOS was successfully updated by accessing the BIOS setup menu.
- Change the Boot Mode back to UEFI and enable Secure Boot.
- Press the [F10] key to save settings and exit. The computer will automatically reboot.
