A. Introduction
===============
This is the R7.8 Product Release. It has been put through a full system test
and is suitable for deployment to end-users.

DisplayLink Software Release R7.8 delivers the following features:

- Improved full screen video frame rate for 4K designs
- New unified installer interface
- New DisplayLink icons for the system tray UI and Windows Programs
- Early support for Intel Skylake platforms

This release is for Windows 7 and later. Windows 10 is not supported in this
release and installation on Windows 10 is blocked. Windows XP SP2 and Vista
are supported by earlier versions of the DisplayLink software:

This software release contains an embedded firmware image.
DL-3xxx/DL-41xx/DL-5xxx devices will be automatically upgraded with this
firmware upon connection.

- DisplayLink monitor can remain blank after power cycling the DisplayLink
device while the USB cable is connected. (18868)
- Some monitors connected via VGA to a DisplayLink device can show corrupted
screen after monitor is replugged. (18560)
- Sometimes DL-41xx device can remain blank after resuming from S4. (18227)
- On some AMD platforms, monitors connected to a DisplayLink device can show
a corrupted screen after rebooting the PC. (17908)
- Sometimes when a DL-41xx device is connected to downstream hub of
a DL-3xxx/DL-5xxx docking station it can constantly blink after
replugging the docking station into the host PC. (18243)
- On some specific platforms, with an AMD GPU, colours can be displayed
incorrectly and the screen can be corrupted on DisplayLink UHD monitors when
external non Displaylink monitors are also connected. (18991)
- Old monitor name remains in Control Panel if the monitor is unplugged or
swapped during S3/S4 on a DL-1xx device. (18793)
- On some platforms the main screen can remain blank after resuming
from monitor power save when DisplayLink software is installed and a
proprietary docking station,with multiple displays, is connected. (18435)
- With the latest GPU drivers the message "Incompatible display driver" can
appear after installing DisplayLink software. (19249)
- On some platforms a monitor connected to a DL-3xxx/DL-5xxx device
can show corruption after resuming from power save. (19524)
- Sometimes an UHD monitor connected to DisplayLink device can go blank
or blink when moving windows across it. (19688)

I. Known Issues and Limitations
===============================
System behaviour with DisplayLink attached screens has been well tested.
Testing covers plug/unplug, mode changes, playing video, hibernate,
sleep/standby, multiple users, different user rights, attached screen as
primary screen, attached screen as only screen, and other aspects.
