Connecting the Symbio Media Box and Blu-ray Player to the internet

The following support bulletin instructs you on connecting the TOSHIBA Symbio Media Box and Blu-ray Player to the internet wirelessly as well as through a wired LAN Ethernet connection.

NOTE: If a system reset is performed on the player, the wireless settings will be deleted and need to be setup again.

Wireless Connection

To connect the player to a wireless network:

  1. Turn the player and TV on. Ensure the TV input is set to display the players content.
  2. Press the "Setting" button on the players remote control to enter the player settings.
  3. Use the up/down arrow buttons to select the "Setting" icon and press "OK" to enter the settings menu.
  4. Select the "Network" icon and press "OK" to enter the Network settings.
  5. Check that "Internet Connection" is "Enabled". If it is "Disabled" then set it to "Enabled": select "Internet Connection" and press "OK", select "Enabled" and press "OK" again.
  6. Under "Interface", if "Ethernet" is displayed, set to "Wireless". If "Wireless" is displayed, enter the setting and select "Wireless" and press "OK".
  7. Confirm you want to change the connection and select "Yes" to continue.
  8. Next select scan to locate the wireless network you wish to connect to. If the network is hidden, select "Manual".
  9. Select or manually enter the network.
  10. Enter the password when prompted and follow the on-screen instructions complete the connection.

To confirm a successful Wi-Fi connection, select "Connection Test", press "OK" and follow the on-screen prompts to test the players internet connection and view the connection details.

Wired Connection

To connect the player to a wired LAN using an Ethernet cable:

  1. Connect a cable between the player and the hub or router as shown in the illustration below.
  2. Turn the player and TV on. Ensure the TV input is set to display the players content.
  3. Press the "Setting" button on the players remote control to enter the player settings.
  4. Use the up/down arrow buttons to select the "Setting" icon and press "OK" to enter the settings menu.
  5. Select the "Network" icon and press "OK" to enter the Network settings.
  6. Check that "Internet Connection" is "Enabled". If it is "Disabled" then set it to "Enabled": select "Internet Connection" and press "OK", select "Enabled" and press "OK" again.
  7. Under "Interface", if "Wireless" is displayed, set to "Ethernet".

To confirm a successful Ethernet connection, select "Connection Test", press "OK" and follow the on-screen prompts to test the players internet connection and view the connection details.
