Issue

How to recreate the Desktop icon "My Documents" if you have removed it.

COMMENTS:
The My Documents icon located on the Windows 98, ME or 2000 desktop is a quick and easy
way to access the folder My Documents.

Resolution

Windows 98

  1. Right-click the Start button and then click Explore.
  2. Navigate to the "My Documents" folder.
  3. Right-click the "My Documents" folder and click Copy in the pop-up menu.
  4. Right-click an empty space on the Windows desktop and click Paste.
    Note: You may need to close the Explorer window.
  5. Click Yes in response to the following message:

    The My Documents Folder Cannot Be Copied To The Desktop.
    Would You Like To Create A Desktop Item That Points To
    The My Documents Folder Instead?

Windows Me and Windows 2000

  1. Click Folder Options in the Control Panel or click Folder Options listed under the Tool Tab on the current active menu.
  2. Click the View Tab
  3. Insure that the option "Show My Documents on the Desktop" is checked.
  4. Click Okay
