Information

The cPad from Synaptics is a TouchPad with an LCD display. Like all traditional TouchPads there are left & right buttons below the TouchPad. The LCD display in the TouchPad can be configured with different wallpaper. There are also touch screen "buttons" in the corners of the TouchPad can be configured for different actions. The touch screen buttons in the corners of the TouchPad can also have the sound enabled so that when you touch a button you will get an audio feedback. The edges of TouchPad can be set for scrolling.

There are applications that can be run through the cPad including a calculator, 10 key, application launcher, sticky notes and signature input.

You can enable or disable sound by going to the TOSHIBA Console, double clicking on the Small Display Properties icon and then clicking on the More Features tab. Next to the Check Box it says "Make a sound when buttons are pressed on the Small Display." Check the box to enable sounds. If there is still no sounds check the volume control wheel on the right side of the computer toward the rear. Turn counter-clockwise to maximize the volume.

The Wallpaper of the Small Display can be changed by again double clicking on the Small Display Properties icon and then clicking on the Wallpaper tab. There is a built-in selection of about a dozen wallpaper choices. The wallpapers are black and white BMP files that are stored at:
C:\PROGRAM FILES\SYNAPTICS\SynTP\CPad\Wallpaper. So if you want to insert a custom picture, graphic, text or logo in the Small Display window you just need to load the file in that directory.

The other features and settings for the cPad are set by double clicking the Mouse icon, which can be found either in the TOSHIBA Console or the Control Panel.

The cPad uses three different drivers, all of them on the Recovery CD. When reinstalling the drivers they need to be installed in the following order:

  1. The TouchPad Driver, which is similar to a normal mouse driver.
  2. The cPad Driver.
  3. The cPad Application.
