Issue
When attempting to play a DVD title using WinDVD ver.3.1 application, an error message may appear.
Resolution

Uninstall the current WinDVD application, and then install the newer version that is provided on the CD that shipped with your computer.
If you need to recover the system, the original error may occur, and you may need to uninstall WinDVD and install the newer version again.

Procedure

Updating theWinDVD™ Software on your Toshiba Computer
When first starting your machine and attempting to play a DVD title, an error message may appear. If this happens, uninstall the current WinDVD application, and then install the newer version that is provided on the CD that shipped with your computer.
Uninstalling WinDVD
1 Turn on your computer and wait until all applications are loaded.
2 Go to Start, then Control Panel.
3 Click the Add or Remove Programs icon.
4 Highlight the WinDVD program and click Change/Remove.
5 When the “Confirm File Deletion” window appears, click OK.
6 When the “Shared File Detected” window appears, check the “Don’t display this message again” box and click Yes. The WinDVD Uninstall window appears.
7 Click Finish to complete the uninstallation.

Updating the WinDVD™ Software on your Toshiba Computer
NOTE: Toshiba recommends that you update to the later version of the software that is provided on the CD shipped with your computer.
If you need to recover your system and install the older version of WinDVD, the original error may occur, and you may need to update the application using the installation steps described below.
Installing WinDVD
1 After the machine is powered up and all applications are loaded, insert the supplied WinDVD CD into the DVD-ROM.
2 The application automatically starts the installation.
3 The “InterVideo WinDVD Setup” window appears.
4 Click Next.
5 Click Yes to accept the License Agreement. The “Choose Destination Location” window appears.
6 Click Next, unless you want to change the location that the application is installed at. The “Select Program Folder” window appears.
7 Click Next, unless you want to change the program name.
8 When the “Setup Complete” window appears, click Finish to complete the installation.
A “Third Party Application” window displays, and installs the Microsoft Help files needed for the application.
9 Click Next to complete the installation.
