Issue
The Toshiba Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card no longer works under Windows 2000 after installing an updated Agere Systems Net Driver from the Microsoft Windows Update program.
Resolution

Uninstall the updated driver from Device Manager and reinstall the original driver using the following procedure:

  1. Click on the Windows Start Menu and select Settings> Control Panel> System> Hardware> Device Manager.
  2. In Device Manager, under the category of "Network Adapters" highlight the entry for Toshiba Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card. On the Device Manager tool bar click on "Action" and then select "Uninstall". Click "OK" to confirm the device removal.
  3. Once the Toshiba Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card is removed, click "Action" on the Device Manager tool bar and then select "Scan for hardware changes".
The Toshiba Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card will be detected as new hardware and Windows will install the device using the original driver.
Note: This issue occurs because the updated driver is not compatible with the Wireless Client Manager.
