Q. Can I use the Canvio DESK desktop external hard drive as expanded storage to compliment the included memory in the Nintendo Wii U game console.

A. Yes, but you will need to let the Nintendo console format the entire Hard Drive for use with the game system. This will delete all saved data from the USB storage device. Once deleted, this data cannot be recovered. Go the Nintendo Wii U support site for information relating to how to format a USB storage device.

NOTE: Any USB External HDD formatted to work with the Wii U will then only work with the Wii U game console and no longer on a PC. Instructions for connecting and formatting the External Storage device are available from Nintendo on their WEB site. To restore the Canvio DESK back to a PC format requires formatting via Disk Management in Windows Control Panel and will delete any Nintendo Wii U data. Once deleted, this data cannot be recovered.

To access Disk Management in Windows 7:

1. In the Start menu select Run then type diskmgmt.msc and then GO.
2. Look for the connected HDD that you wish to format and right click on it and select format. This will delete all data on the HDD selected and cannot be recovered.
