Connecting and Setting up your DVR / DVD Recorder

This support bulletin will help you to hook up your Toshiba DVD recorder.
There are 2 types of DVD Recorders. One that has a tuner for tunning TV channels by itself and another that does not have a built in tuner. You can tell the difference by looking on the back of the DVD recorder and seeing if there are Antenna IN and OUT connections.

DVD Recorder has Antenna Connections:

Connecting to a Satellite Receiver
Connecting to an outside Antenna or Rabbit Ears when the DVD recorder has a tuner
- Connect the Antenna or Rabbit Ear connection to the DVD recorder Antenna IN
- Connect the DVD Recorder Antenna OUT to the Television
- Connect the DVD Recorder Video/Audio OUT to the TV (In most cases your TV must have a Audio/Video input) using one of the methods below
- Connect Audio (Red/White) and Video (Yellow) OUT on the DVD recorder to the Television Audio / Video IN.
- Connect the HDMI OUT on the DVD Recorder if one is available to the Television HDMI IN.
- Connect S-Video OUT on the DVD Recorder to the S-Video IN on the TV. You must also connect the red and white audio cables to the TV
- Turn both the TV and DVD recorder on and tune the TV to the Input that you have connected the DVD Recorder to.
- Your DVD recorder should now be connected properly to your television.
Connecting to Cable TV without using a Cable Box when the DVD recorder has a tuner
- Connect the Cable from the wall to the DVD recorder Antenna IN
- Connect the DVD Recorder Antenna OUT to the Television
- Connect the DVD Recorder Video/Audio OUT to the TV (In most cases your TV must have a Audio/Video input) using one of the methods below
- Connect Audio (red/White) and Video (Yellow) OUT on the DVD recorder to the Television Audio / Video IN.
- Connect the HDMI OUT on the DVD Recorder if one is available to the Television HDMI IN.
- Connect S-Video OUT on the DVD Recorder to the S-Video IN on the TV. You must also connection the red and white audio cables to the TV
- Turn both the TV and DVD recorder on and tune the TV to the Input that you have connected the DVD Recorder to.
- Your DVD recorder should now be connected properly to your television.
Connecting to Cable TV using a Cable Box
- Connect Audio (Red/White) and Video (Yellow) OUT on the back of the Cable Box to the Audio/Video IN on the back of the DVD Recorder
- Connect the DVD Recorder Video/Audio OUT to the TV (In most cases your TV must have a Audio/Video input) using one of the methods below
- Connect Audio (red/White) and Video (Yellow) OUT on the DVD recorder to the Television Audio / Video IN.
- Connect the HDMI OUT on the DVD Recorder if one is available to the Television HDMI IN.
- Connect S-Video OUT on the DVD Recorder to the S-Video IN on the TV. You must also connection the red and white audio cables to the T
- Turn both the TV and DVD recorder on and tune the TV to the Input that you have connected the DVD Recorder to.
- Your DVD recorder should now be connected properly to your television.
Connecting to a Satellite Receiver
- Connect Audio (Red/White) and Video (Yellow) OUT on the back of the Satellite Receiver to the Audio/Video in on the back of the DVD Recorder
- Connect the DVD Recorder Video/Audio OUT to the TV (In most cases your TV must have a Audio/Video input) using one of the methods below
- Connect Audio (red/White) and Video (Yellow) OUT on the DVD recorder to the Television Audio / Video IN.
- Connect the HDMI OUT on the DVD Recorder if one is available to the Television HDMI IN.
- Connect S-Video OUT on the DVD Recorder to the S-Video IN on the TV. You must also connection the red and white audio cables to the T
- Turn both the TV and DVD recorder on and tune the TV to the Input that you have connected the DVD Recorder to.
- Your DVD recorder should now be connected properly to your television.
