Description
This is the Gobi 1000 Disable Cell Broadcast (CB) tool.

Objective: This is a command line tool that sets NV items 1016 and 1017 to value “0”, there by disabling cell broadcast functionality on the Gobi module.

Operation: The Gobi1000Updater_DisableCB.exe connects to a Gobi1000 module and updates NV items 1016 and 1017 to value “0” and resets the module for update to take effect. The tool executes the following steps –
  1. Connects to any Gobi1000 module that is present on the system, based on Gobi1000 notebook OEM VID/PID combinations.
    1. If the module is not powered on, or not present on the system, it will print the following error messages:
      1. Unable to locate device
      2. Update failed
  2. If the module is detected tool will connect and change NV items 1016 and 1017 to value “0”. After the write operation succeeds it will read back both values and check if they are set to “0”. If the check passes it will print the following messages on the command prompt to indicate success.
    1. NV 1016 and 1017 successfully changed to '0'
    2. Press any key to continue . . .
  3. Finally the module is reset for the NV update to take effect.

  4. Note: This tool uses the diagnostic port of Gobi1000 device so please note that NO other applications using the diagnostic port such as QXDM/QPST are running

  • Laptop does NOT need to be rebooted after running the tool.
  • Module will be reset as part of the NV update process.
  • Tool only works on Gobi1000 modules (i.e. NOT Gobi2000, Gobi3000, etc.)
