"DRM: error 0" when trying to read a book using TOSHIBA Book Place

Issue

In rare instances users trying to read books via the TOSHIBA Book Place application are presented with this message: DRM: error 0.

Resolution

Reset the book licenses within the TOSHIBA Book Place application.

Procedure
  1. Turn on the tablet.
  2. Start the process from the Central Home screen.
  3. Tap the "Apps" icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen (indicated by the red box in Fig. 1)

  1. On the "Applications" screen, make sure the menu at the bottom of the screen is set to, "All" (indicated by the red box in Fig.2). If it isn't tap, "All" to move to that view. To view all the available applications scroll the screen in the direction of the red arrow also seen in Fig. 2

  1. Scroll the screens until you see the application entitled, "Settings" (indicating by the red box in Fig. 3). Hint: The applications are in alphabetical order.

  1. At the Settings page, on the left hand side tap, "Applications" (indicated by the red box labeled "1" in Fig. 4). On the right hand side tap, "Manage applications" (identifed by the red box labeled "2" in Fig. 4).

  1. Select, "All" (as indicated by the red box labeled "1" in Fig. 5). Scroll the list of applications until you get to "Book Place". Tap the Book Place application (indicated by the red box labeled "2" in Fig. 5).

  1. At the Book Place information screen, tap, "Clear data" (indicated by the red box labeled "1" in Fig. 6). Tap "OK" when the pop-up message appears.  Next tap, "Force stop" (indicated by the red box labeled "2" in Fig. 6).  Tap "OK" when the pop-up message appears.

  1. Locate and launch  the Book Place application (indated by the red box in Fig. 7).

  1. Tap, "Read your e-books" (indicated by the red box in Fig. 8).

  1. Tap the, "Legacy" button at the bottom of the screen (indicated by the red box in Fig. 9).

  1. From the menu that pops-up tap "Settings" (indicated by the red box in Fig. 10).

  1. Tap the check box associated with "Authentication Status" (indicated by the red box in Fig. 11).

Note: If there is already a checkmark in the box, remove it. The system will log you out at that time. Once you are logged out, place the checkmark back in the box and you'll be prompted to log back in (see step 12).

  1. You will be prompted to log in to your Book Place account. The Email Address will be pre-populated with your information however you'll need to enter the password associated with the account in the Password field (indicated by the red box in Fig. 12).

  1. Tap the back arrow located at the lower left hand side of the screen (indicated by the red arrow in Fig. 13), to return to the Library view. Try again to open and read the books you have paid for and downloaded.
