- Information
Toshiba makes two types of 3D TVs that need 3D glasses, Dynamic (Active) and Natural (Passive). 3D glasses should be worn only when viewing 3D content. When viewing 2D content, the 3D glasses are not necessary. The Toshiba WX800U, UL610U Series are Active 3D TVs while the TL515U Series are Passive 3D TVs.
- Active 3D TV glasses have lenses made of LCD screens. The LCD screens open and close (flash) 120 times per second - which is why the glasses are also called active shutter glasses.
- Passive 3D glasses have no electronics or active shutter. The passive 3D glasses use a pair of polarized lens for the 3D effect. The polarity of the left and right lens is different so that you will see a different view depending on which lens you are looking through.
