Information

At this time, television signals come in a variety of resolutions and aspect ratios (shapes).  Even though the industry has moved into high definition, much of the content is still in standard definition and a 4:3 aspect ratio.  The 4:3 aspect ratio is almost square in shape and when displayed on a 16:9 television, it will have black bars on the right and left.  In order to alleviate the bars, please ensure that the TV Shape or Aspect Ratio setting on your cable box is set to 16:9 or Widescreen.  If you still have black bars on the right and left, you may want to adjust the Picture Size settings on your television to fill the screen by manipulating the picture.
