3D content is typically filmed straight on, so the best position to be in when watching the content is at the horizontal and vertical center of the screen. Since that isn't always possible, a good rule of thumb would be to stay within 30 degrees of center horizontally,
15 degrees vertically,
and with a total field of view of no more than 60 degrees right and left (120 degrees total for both eyes).
Additionally, the active shutter 3D glasses used with Toshiba 3D TVs, are polarized and will only pass light when the polarization matches that of the TV screen. Lying down in such a way that the glasses are at a 90 degree angle to the screen changes the polarization angle so that light is blocked, causing the picture to go dark.
